Emergency Appeal for Gaza

Help provide critical aid to Palestine during a time of great need.

GWC Urgent Gaza Aid Appeal: Providing Relief

We urgently seek your support for our mission to provide essential emergency aid and assistance to the people of Gaza.

The situation in Gaza remains dynamic and is characterised by a constant influx of conflicting information from various media and social platforms. We are providing you with regular, concise updates to keep you informed of our ongoing assistance efforts.

Some may be aware that we initially postponed our appeal due to the substantial price disparities associated with procuring essential goods in Egypt. We were uncomfortable with acquiring supplies at significantly inflated prices.

Subsequently, we entered into a partnership agreement with the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. ERC has been dispatching relief trucks into Gaza since the conflict’s outset.

Initially, due to the volatile situation and border closures, we held off on sharing a generalised link for fundraising. However, as we have gathered more information we are now extending our reach to provide essential aid to the people of Gaza who need it the most.

For the first time since the war began, foreign nationals and injured Palestinians are being allowed to leave Gaza. Eighty-one injured Palestinians and 360 foreign passport holders were permitted to enter Egypt via the Rafah border crossing.

The situation is fluid, and we need your support for the items that are still in  high demand:

 Ventilators

Equipped with masks for adults, children, and infants.

Medical Kits

A necessity for addressing medical emergencies.

Food Packs

To keep families sustained while searching for safety.

Solar Power Banks

To keep communication alive in a region running out of energy.

A convoy of 1000 Gaza Aid trucks started their journey from Cairo through the Islamilia Road headed to the Rafah borders, Gaza bound at Dawn on 23rd November 2023, these trucks were part of the Egyptian Governments initiative called ‘Tahya Misr’, which Goodwill Caravan are honoured to have participated in with 5 Aid trucks. Our Goodwill Caravan team were on site with 5 of our (joint partner funded) Gaza aid trucks on the Ismailia Road which were en route to the Rafah borders, Gaza bound! None of this would have been possible without being welcomed to be under the umbrella of the Tahya Misr Fund initiative together with our local partners Sonaa ELKheir Foundation who are part of the Egyptian Governments’ national coalition to get emergency aid into Gaza.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Goodwill Caravan to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Goodwill Caravan we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Goodwill Caravan to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Goodwill Caravan will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Goodwill Caravan receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
