Refugee Week 2026 (June 15–21): Honoring Courage
Celebrating Refugee Week 2026
As we observe Refugee Week 2026 from June 15 to 21, we honor the official global theme: Courage. Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention, this year’s festival shines a vital spotlight on the bravery of displaced families seeking sanctuary from conflict. Goodwill Caravan invites you to stand with us, celebrate our shared humanity, and carry this courage forward through life-saving support and storytelling.
Every minute, families are forced to flee their homes because of war, violence, and persecution. They leave behind their homes, livelihoods, communities, and often the people they love most. What remains is uncertainty.
Khadija’s Story of Courage
What is a Refugee?
A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee their country because of conflict, persecution, violence, or a well-founded fear of persecution. International law recognizes their right to seek protection when returning home is no longer safe.
But refugees are more than a legal definition.
They are parents, children, students, professionals, neighbours, and friends. They are people whose lives have been interrupted by circumstances beyond their control, yet who continue to show extraordinary resilience in the face of profound hardship.
A Lifeline for Families Displaced by Conflict
Our current humanitarian operations focus on two of the most urgent displacement crises of our time: supporting displaced Palestinian and Sudanese families in Cairo, Egypt, and Palestinian families in Gaza.
Goodwill Caravan has spent years supporting displaced and vulnerable communities across Greece, Libya, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, responding to humanitarian crises wherever the need has been greatest.
Through a holistic approach to humanitarian assistance, we provide critical support that helps families survive today while rebuilding hope for tomorrow.
Protecting Those Most at Risk
The burden often falls heaviest on those least able to protect themselves. At Goodwill Caravan, we priorities support for the most vulnerable members of displaced communities, including:
🔹 Widows struggling to provide for their children alone
🔹 Single mothers carrying the responsibility of entire households
🔹 Orphans who have lost parental care and protection
🔹 Pregnant women facing serious health risks during displacement
🔹 Newborn babies whose survival depends on access to medical care and nutrition
🔹 Unaccompanied children exposed to exploitation and abuse
🔹 Emergency medical cases requiring urgent treatment and rehabilitation
