What is Zakat Nisab?

The Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must have before becoming eligible to pay Zakat. It ensures that only those with sufficient savings contribute, while protecting those with limited means. If your wealth is below the Nisab threshold, you are not required to pay Zakat.

Traditionally, the Nisab is calculated against the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Many Muslims today choose the silver value, as it ensures more people pay Zakat and, in turn, helps more people in need.

If your savings and assets are above the Nisab for a full lunar year, you must pay 2.5% of your wealth as Zakat.

At Goodwill Caravan, your Zakat above the Nisab threshold goes directly towards supporting refugees, orphans, and families in crisis, ensuring your contribution has maximum impact.
